How it All Began ...

Jane received two separate “terminal” cancer diagnoses between 1994 and 2004. She refused to accept them.

Whilst medical treatments fought her cancer through traditional methods, Jane used science and extensive research to find a way to starve those cancer cells and then reboot her immune system.

Since her successful recovery, Jane has published an international bestselling and award-winning book which has recently been updated, launched a successful online course, spoken at Global Conferences and Forums, participated in Podcasts and Webinars Worldwide and received the Amazing Women Global Lifetime Achievement Award (2019) which acknowledged her extensive work educating and helping cancer patients since 2003.

Nowadays Jane spends her time actively campaigning to help other cancer patients learn her method to support their care and learn using their own research: she has tens of thousands of followers in her Facebook Group

Starting Out:
Wellness and Innovation

Jane always had an interest in the body and healing, and has never been one to settle for anything less than success. She trained as a Chartered Physiotherapist, gaining a distinction in her exams and winning the Sarah Leeson Memorial Award for the most promising student, and on qualifying worked in the NHS and private practice for 12 years, specialising in Neurology and Orthopaedics.
She then let her entrepreneurial spirit loose and launched her own range of toiletries – BATHrobics – along with a unique, waterproof book. Just one year later, Jane won the coveted ‘UK Gift Of The Year’ award. She let this range go when she finally became a mother in 2006.

Beating ‘terminal’ cancer: science, wisdom, and daring to try

Jane was diagnosed with Stage IV cervical cancer in 1999, when it had spread to her lungs, then she was devastated to discover that she had developed myelodysplasia in 2003 (a result of heavy chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments).

She discovered through intensive research that cancer behaves like a parasite in the body and if you remove the source of nutrients then it could no longer survive.

She developed her unique McLelland approach aimed at starving cancer cells of the nutrients they crave, initially by combining natural therapies, intravenous vitamin C, a cancer-starving diet and exercise. For several years this approach worked well, but in 2003 when the myelodysplasia appeared, she knew she had to up her game. She had to improve it several notches to survive.

Building on her original plan she went back to the research with a vengeance and created a cocktail of low-toxicity, off label drugs to block glucose, glutamine and fat in a precisely targeted approach, with drug and supplement combinations created specifically to starve her own cancer. To her enormous relief and exhilaration, it worked! Her cancer simply ‘melted away’ and she once again recovered from a ‘terminal’ diagnosis.

A New Approach:

All this research and successful experimentation led Jane to map out cancer metabolism in a new way. With a unique perspective on the disease, she created a clear, simple and accessible approach. She was thrilled to discover the Care Oncology Clinic in 2015, studying a similar off label drugs
and supplements cocktail approach to cancer, run by doctors and oncologists researching a solution that mirrored her own.

Since then she has developed her approach further so that each patient can tailor the protocol to their own unique situation and type of cancer using her book, her online course, her Facebook group and doing their own specific research.
Jane has been called “A modern-day cancer Sherlock Holmes” and she is well-known in medical communities around the world for the McLelland Metro Map™ of cancer metabolism.

In her book and her online course she has simplified the many Hallmarks into five understandable steps:
1. The tumour microenvironment
2. The metabolism,
3. Growth factors,
4. The immune system
5. And the ability of the cancer to withstand oxidation (‘Kill’ phase).
A ‘Kill Phase’ in Jane parlance is a pulse of free radicals, such as conventional chemotherapy or radiotherapy but can include intravenous vitamin C which at high doses produces hydrogen peroxide at the tumour site. A newly discovered kill phase is called ferroptosis as it neatly uses cancer’s addiction to iron to produce free radicals, achieved with a special combination of drugs and supplements and a different diet. Starving and then pulsing kill phases has resulted in many incredible remissions. Many #positiveprogress reports can be found in her Facebook group and on her How To Starve Cancer page (provide link).

Ferroptosis is explained in more detail in Jane’s second edition and in her online course on Teachable.com.

This unique approach and metabolic cocktail has been used by thousands of people to achieve success against even the toughest, most advanced cancers.
History Of ...

THE McLELLAND METRO MAP

Jane’s Metro Map evolved from her initial realisation that cancer did not just fuel itself on glucose as proposed by Otto Warburg, a German physicist. In 1924 he showed that cancer cells ferment glucose even when oxygen was present using a process called ‘glycolysis’. This is different to how normal cells behave.

She realised cancer also uses glutamine (an amino acid) and it can also use fat to fuel itself.

She firstly set out the map on these simple principles in the form of a triangle showing the drugs and supplements she used to overcome her own cancer.
After discovering the Care Oncology Clinic, she then realised there were many more key pathways and after trawling hundreds of articles on cancer metabolism she published her Metro Map in her 2018 book How To Starve Cancer… without starving yourself.
Jane has continued to learn and expand her now accepted theories about the metabolic flexibility of cancer and how it can switch from one pathway to another. This simplified diagram of the metabolism applies to every type of cancer but certain pathways are more dominant in different cancer subtypes. To find out how and what you need to block, you need to read the book and take the online course!
